Once discovered summon your book by holding crouch↺ + pressing run⇒. You will need to summon your book whenever you wish to switch your active element type.
Wish you could switch your active element type, mid combat? Find the Cube of Zoey, lost in the expanse of Hyrule, and it will enable seamless elemental swaps without consulting the spellbook, offering true mastery over your new mystical arts. Once found you can switch your active element by holding run ⇒ + pressing dpad-down ↡.
